I must have opened/closed the doors 50 times while checking for clearance and operation. Put the fuse in and watched the boards retract. I wired everything up, burned some incense, chanted a few incantations, and stood on my head while praying to the TRX gods ( did just as much help as asking for help here ).
I placed two fender washers under the top stud and one fender washer under each of the bottom studs. To gain some clearance, I used fender washers ( they're very thin ) under the AMP brackets. I rotated the driver's side motors clockwise causing the top of the motors to press up against the body of the truck. So, I threw the instructions away and came up with my own solution. AMP Research has not responded to any message that I have sent thus far. I also sent the seller and AMP research emails concerning this issue and neither have offered any assistance at all. That boys and girls, provides NO help whatsoever. not get useless comments about how others have not experienced this issue. That's when I came on here to seek help from others. Subsequently, I made a second attempt by attaching the motor first, then mounting the bracket to the truck, but I couldn't get the bracket to seat against the truck for the same exact reason. When I attempted to mount the motor as shown in step 5, I was unable unable to attach it to the rear driver's side linkage as the motor came in contact with the fuel tank's factory skid plate mounting bracket and prevented the motor from seating properly. If you refer to step 5 on page 6 of the instructions, you will see an image depicting the driver's side motor orientation. That being said, this is my first time installing the AMP PowerStep Xtreme steps ( two-motor version - 78240-01A ). If you cannot help me resolve my issue, then don't bother responding. I only care about resolving the issue that I am experiencing. I do NOT care what other people have experienced. I am a firm believer in following the instructions to the letter and I do NOT appreciate hearing from people that they have sold/installed these steps to other people without having any installation issues. So this is NOT my first time installing the AMP PowerSteps. once on my 20 Power Wagon and again on my 20. I have installed the single-motor version of the AMP PowerSteps twice before.
